AS SOME MAY KNOW CANTEBURY DOWNS WHICH IS THE THOROUGHBRED TRACK IN MINNESOTA IN REAL LIFE STARTED UP THE CLAIMING CROWN SERIES OF RACING IN 1998. IT WAS AN ATTEMPT TO GIVE THE UNSUNG HEROES OF RACING, CLAIMERS, A SPOTLIGHT DAY OF RACING. THESE RACES ARE HELD IN THE SUMMER AT CANTEBURY DOWNS (ALTHOUGH LAST YEAR THEY DID RUN AT ELLIS PARK IN KENTUCKY).
THERE ARE 7 RACES IN THE SERIES AND THEY ARE RUN AS STARTER ALLOWANCES WITH DIFFERENT CLAIMING TAG LEVELS. NOTE THESE RACES ARE CARDED BY MIKE AND THE SIM AND NOT PURCHASED BY THE REZ AND ARE OPEN TO ALL STABLES IN THE SIM.

I WILL BE OFFERING UP A PRIZE HORSE TO THE WINNERS OF EACH OF THESE 7 RACES. THE PRIZE HORSES WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN JUNE WHEN I START PROMOTING THE SERIES.
IN ADDITION I WILL BE HOLDING A MINNESOTA REZ ONLY SERIES OF 7 STARTER ALLOWANCE RACES FOR OUR OWN MINNY CLAIMING CROWN RACES.
The Minny Iron Horse $5,000 3 & Up 8.5 f Dirt Purse $50,000
The Minny Express $5,000 3 & Up 6.0 f Dirt Purse $50,000
The Minny Glass Slipper $10,000 3 & Up, f&m 6.0 f Dirt Purse $50,000

The Minny Jewel $25,000 3 & Up 9.0 f Dirt Purse $75,000
MAKES FOR A DIFFERENT TYPE OF DAY AT THE RACES KEYING IN ON THE CLAIMERS INSTEAD OF THE STAKE CALIBRE HORSES. I KNOW FOR ONE THAT I DO HAVE ALOT OF CLAIMER IN MY BARNS---ALOT MORE THAN I HAVE STAKE HORSES.

Ok we are going to seperate these two days of racing.
The claiming crown races are going to be held on July 12/08---Week 3644
The Minnesota Fall Dirt Festival will be held on Sept 9/08---Week 3700. I will be adding some rez restricted races on that day and all the races will be on the dirt.

Hello Theo - i was wondering what your thinking was on making the Claiming Series actually Starter Alw. races rather than claiming races where the runners are really a claimer on that day.
thanks |

Actually Randy---The Claiming Crown Races are simply a copy of the real life claiming crown races run at Canterbury Downs. They are all starter allowance races where the horse had to have run for the claiming leverl of the race in 2008 (ie a starter allowance). Mike has carded these races, the rez will not be buying them.
