I would try to add onto the dirt sprint angle and would not spend too much since he does not have best pedigree or track record. You could pick almost any sire without worrying about too much inbreeding.

Henny Hughes looks like a good option - plenty of dirt sprint history and will be available down around 100pbs. I would have said Dixieland Band, but the bug were sires who can only breed 3yr olds make him more than I would spend.

Better yet - since you are willing to try a he-mare then check the claims for a another better horse first. You may not see this in time but, here is a GRADED winner by Touch Gold in 2k claimer.

If I am tempted to breed to a low cost sired horse like that I try to inbreed it a bit with something not too expensive at the end of the week, I am by no means an expert in this field but it seems to me that having at least a little inbreeding helps more often then not in the sim.

It will make a change not to see Mr. P or Northern Dancer inbreeding but breeding to North Light should be cheap enough and gives 5x5 influences of Buckpasser, Natalma and Nearctic. Northern Light's stats give a turf and route preference though but then again what horses should like and what they actually do end up liking are not always predictable. Cat Thief could be another option, I have used it a fair bit with decent sprint results if you want to try to keep down the sprint path and again he is usually cheap at week's end too.
