BreedingIf I may ask some of the more experienced and successful breeders at this RES...have a couple of nicely bred claimed mares i'm looking to breed and I'm seeking sire recommendations.

I'll go 500 BP's for a Sire if there worth the risk.

Some nicely bred mares.
For the 1st I'd use Sadler's Wells if I could get him, or a top son of his.
But if she were mine, I'd give her some more time to develop. She only has 19 starts and to me it looks like she is improving. You could have a nice 5YO allowance mare there.
For the 2nd, I'd try GIANT'S CAUSEWAY or FOREST WILDCAT.
or LION HEARTED as a cheaper alternative.
I love War Chant, BTW.

Dundey, many thanks...thought it was rather generous to put these two in cheap claimers so I took a stab at them Who are some of the top sons of SW other than El Prado?

There's a bunch (I'm sure I've missed a couple):
KING OF KINGS (IRE)
MONTJEU (IRE)
GALILEO (IRE)
NOT IMPOSSIBLE (IRE)
HIGH CHAPARRAL (IRE)
REFUSE TO BEND (IRE)
I also like BALLINGARRY (IRE) and have had nice results with OPERA HOUSE(GB) for a cheap one.

i love dundey's suggestion. Personally i like monjeu here.
my other question was why breed to these yet? my personal philosophy would be to wait til next april and see if you can get some wins out of them in the mean time. they both seem like they can still be productive.

Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen.....If the they continue to develop i'll ride them out.

I would keep running them both until next year - the fee for using a 4yr old is just too high for me.
I think Smart Strike might be getting another bump up from Mike this year and could work well with your first horse if it passes on some of its dirt preferences.
And as Dundey suggests, maybe a son of Storm Cat for the second.
