FYI Minnesota Stallion Contest - from sim board

Every year the Minnesota Residency holds an internal contest called the Minnesota Stallion Contest. This year there will be a tweak in order to reach out to the sim community at large. When Theo was runing things he made it a point to try and run sim wide contests. While I can't commit to the enormous undertakings that Theo did, I do want to keep this tradition alive. With that said we are introducing this terrific contest to the sim world.

This contest starts as of the role over into 2009. To enter you must either post in this thread or post in the thread that will be initiated on the Minnesota Message board. You must breed a 3 year old Minnesota Bred horse. It must be unraced to be entered. You can enter a horse at anytime during the year. Each trainer will be allowed 1 entry (Not per stable but per trainer). During the course of the year you will be allowed to replace your horse twice but would lose any previously earned points should you choose to replace it.

Every week your horse runs you must post in this thread. You may post up until the race fields for the next week are posted in order to get credit for your run. Horses earn points for any top three finish and an extra point for a win. Points are awarded as follows:

MSW,CLAIMING,STARTER ALLOWANCES=1 POINT
RESTRICTED ALLOWANCE RACES=2 POINTS
OPEN ALLOWANCE RACES=3 POINTS
OVERNITE AND RESTRICTED STAKE RACES=5 POINTS
GRADED STAKES=7 POINTS

A BONUS OF 1 POINT IS AWARDED ON TOP OF THE ABOVE SCORES IF THE HORSE WINS THE RACE.
There will be two divisions. One for residents and one for non residents. Residents are allowed to enter a second horse into the nonresident division if they have nonresidency supporting stables. Nonresidents will not be required to support the residency, but if they do they may enter any contest we run at the residency.

The contest will run the entire length of the year. I will keep the standings at the Minnesota Residency (meaning you will have to visit our residency to see the standings - see you knew there was a catch Smile )

I know that it will be easy for trainers to cheat and enter more then once if there stables are unconnected but I am hoping that we will be sportsmanlike and not do such a thing.

The prize structure will be as follows: Most points from either division will earn 1100 credits. Best resident point earner will earn 1000 credits (these two prizes could go to the same person if the best resident is also the best in either division.) The second best resident will earn 500 credits. The best non resident will earn 400 credits to not win the top prize (this will either be best nonresident or the second best should a nonresident win teh top prize - does that make sense?)

questions/comments/concerns/criticism? let me know and i will do my best to address all.

thanks and good luck.
