What would you do?Let's see if we can gather some discussion. each week I'll highlight a horse, and every can chime in how i'm messing them up and give me suggestions to help me be a better trainer. That sounds like a good idea to everyone..doesn't it
Last Sire Standing (PASSING GLANCE (GB) x KRIS S. x NATIVE DANCER )
Horse's History: when i was on my mission to breed to every 2005 freshman sire, this was the last one I used. I've been happy with its production until recently. I think I got into a rut running it at 8 or 8.5 furlongs on the dirt. what do you think i should do? claimers? give her more ground? retire her?

I'd try longer. Looks like can handle it. The way I'm running things these days and with the speeds up, this horse is getting in claimer territory. I wouldn't retire it though. Only 24 starts. Should have some more life yet for sure.

With her pedigree and past I'd be inclined to give her another shot on the turf at around a mile

i'd try turf again but i don't see it working. i would plan to send it to breed after the failed attempt

I didn't or wouldn't suggest breeding because that sire, although none are on record yet, would probably be hard pressed to produce a horse as good as this one in the DS spot.

Its strange. I must have thought the combo was going to produce a turf runner, since the first three races were on turf. I'll definitely try that suggestion.
I probably would breed to her eventually. I'm usually crazy like that fab. I would probably use a little used sire and cross my fingers. Sometimes these things work. But your right, the one spot even I think needs to have a top notch sire is the DS spot. The sire and the DDS can get away with trying things, but usually not the DS spot.

I would try turf again for sure, she's ITM 3 out of 3 on turf!
What took you so long!
If she does not run well at 8.5 shorten up a bit and give it one more try.

Good luck Chuck, Hope the Turf works out well, looks like thats definately the way to go.
the sire for (PASSING GLANCE (GB) as you know is Polar falcon, as a sire was a beast on both surfaces, but his best winning % was at 8 F Turf according to my out dated sire stats tool, lol
anyways Heres to a breakout run.....
let us all know how you pan out
later,
Ryan

well well well. A hard fought victory by a head and posted a 105. Very impressive. I'm going to try and toughen the competition next time with the type of restrictions, and if i get a repeat performance then maybe an open allowance.
