The next series is going to start on 11/29/08. Due to the cost, I ask any resident who can afford it to donate the cost of one race. This will not be mandatory but highly appreciated. Also, this series is open to all residents, whether extremely active or not, and whether they join the residency after this post or not.  I will cap it at the first 20 entries - should we get that many.

Here are the rules for the series:

MINNESOTA SIRE SERIES

This is a contest where residents must breed a horse using a specified sire (Came Home) and that runner is restricted to running in a 12 race series over 36 weeks. The races are a mix of sprints, routes, dirt and grass races. While a horse does not have to compete in all 12 races of the series to remain eligible they are limited to running in the series and will be disqualified if they race in a race outside of the contest while it is still in progress.

The chosen sire is picked by the previous contest winner and then there is a 20 week period for residents to breed their horse (3 year old).

The purse structure for the series is as follows:
RACES 1 THRU 6---$50K PURSES
RACES 7 THRU 10---$75K PURSES
RACES 11 THRU 12---$100K PURSES

The top 3 money earners at the end of the 12 race series will earn the following credit prizes.

1ST PLACE= 3000 CREDITS
2ND PLACE=1500 CREDITS
3RD PLACE=1000 CREDITS

Races will be held every 3 weeks and will be purchased by the residence..

entrants may replace their entry at any point in the series but will lose credit for anything earned up to that point.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please enter you horse in this thread. Put the Name, Sex, ID, stable to enter. Make sure you breed a three year old. The horse will turn four early into the series; so that may be something to consider when picking blood lines.

Here is the  racing schedule. :

11/29    6F Dirt   50k - password 3784.4716(751491)
12/20    6F Turf  50k - purchased 3805.4716(820416)

Chuck and all,

I recommend we cut a couple races from this contest. I think it would be better to keep the contest under a year in duration and we could use the credits for other things.

Are the residents buying these races?  I thought I  saw that somewhere.
Either way, I'll play - and pay for a race if needed.

But I agree that maybe it can be shortened a bit to ease the amount of races purchased.

I think it should be a 12 race series. One every 3 weeks. I will also pay for one of the races.

as someone who has been in both sire series til the end and had no shot at winning either one, i definitely like the idea of shortening it..even if it just means we get t the next one faster. Thus I have changed the rules to reflect this. I edited the top post so that it now has the new rules. I have also changed the prizes a little.

Call me a fool or sim ignorant Chuck, BUT, I do NOT know how to donate a race. IF one day you feel like explaining it to me, I will gladly donate one.
Also, how long do we have to breed the Came Home horse? Any restrictions on the DS or DDS?
 Thanks,
Mark

1. no restriction on ds/dds - that is the point of the contest, come up with the best combo.

2. you would just transfer the cost of the race to my chuckrock account to reimburse what i lay out.

3. at the moment we are set for an 11/29 start so if that holds as long as you breed before that and are one of the first 20 to post your in. HOWEVER, I have sent a request to mike to see if he will do us a favor. If he does, then the starting week will come sooner.

Am I wrong in saying that the breeding has to be a scratch breeding and using retired mares are not allowed??

In the past - the only rules were that the horse be by the selected sire, 3yrs old, and unraced at the start of the contest. I used a he-mare last time.

the first two races have been purchased. I came across a question though.

in this series a resident has a chance to replace their entry. I think this means that the races that are post Jan 1 I have to make as 3 yr old +, so that if someone does breed a new one they can still enter. am i correct here?

Chuck,
since we have to breed a 3YO for this contest and it starts on 11/29, I don't see too many people replacing their horses.  You would have to breed your replacement horse before 12/31.

But the races could be 3YO's until 12/31 and 4YO after or all 3+, does not really matter.

ok, because i am an incredible dunce, i had to restructure the purse amounts above.

i've also just discovered that the cost of a 75k purse is 1100 credits. so keep that in mind when/if you donate. i'd imagine the 100k ones are even more.
