It is the time of year to free up stable space and start again. In past years I would have held onto any 3yr old in January if they were hitting 75+ speeds. It seems like this year any horse not going 80+ should be in claims or the auction.

What is your cutoff this year?

Tom

No set cut off for me Tom.  It depends on many factors, including breeding and if I feel that the horse could improve with age.  I'm not one to dump horses too fast, unless they were cheaply bred.

But if a 3 yo horse can't hit 75 and has tried claims already, he'll be gone sooner rather then later!

How about 3yo, weren't bargain breds, tried claimers and can't hit 65? I've got three set up for breedovers. Embarassed

Even horse is different but by this time if they have been raced 5 plus times
and are under 75 I start putting them in claiming races I have a couple in this week that have even been in stake races early on but have shown no improvement or ablity to strech out to longer distances

Cool  Cool  Cool
